Why I Created This Journal

As the producer of Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, I was deeply moved by Hachiko’s true story. Years later, the experience became even more personal when I lost my own beloved dog, Hachi. I was heartbroken and unsure how to move forward.

 

Writing in a journal gave me a place to release some of my sadness while holding close the love and memories we shared. In time, it became a quiet source of comfort.

 

After the film, people from around the world shared stories of the dogs they had loved and lost. Their words reminded me how deeply this grief is felt—and inspired me to create a journal that might offer others the same space to remember, reflect, and begin healing.
